The unit conversion window
This window can
be opened by using the iconbar icon menu, or by setting it to open
with a SELECT or ADJUST click in the Choices...
dialogue. By default, it can be opened by clicking SELECT on the
iconbar icon. The layout of the window may be considered in two
parts.
The left hand side of the window contains the fields into which the values of the units to be converted are entered, and the converted results are displayed. In version 2, there may be up to nine fields here. The conversions are carried out in real time as you type, and the equivalent values in all the units are displayed.
The right hand side of the window allows the type of units being converted to be changed. Version 2 allows up to nine types of units to be current at any one time. The available conversions are displayed and clicking a particular radio icon makes those units the active ones to be converted.
At the bottom right of the window is a popup menu button that gives you access to further groups of conversions, each group allowing up to an additional nine sets of conversions. As of version 2.30, the total number of groups is limited to nine.
A wide range of units are supplied by default, but if these are insufficient, then it is possible to add more, or customise the existing, units. The default units are listed here. Further details can be found here.
The unit conversion window menu
Clicking MENU over the
unit convert window raises the menu shown here. The options should be
self-explanatory. You can set the number of significant figures used
when displaying the results of the conversion. Version 2.30 allows a
choice of 4, 5 or 6 significant figures.
Other options allow the opening of the bin/hex, image size or gases windows, giving access to these more specialised conversion.
